Biographical history

Dennis Harris (1851-1932) was a surveyor who contributed to the Canadian Pacific Railway survey in the 1870s. He settled in Victoria, marrying Martha Douglas, youngest daughter of Sir James and Lady Amelia Douglas.

Scope and content

Fonds consists of mainly of diaries, letters, bills and cancelled cheques documenting Harris's career as a surveyor. Also included are family photographs and a map of Victoria Harbour.
