Victoria (B.C.). Finance DepartmentSeries consists of plumbing and sewer connection applications pertaining to buildings that no longer exist in their original location, having been demolished, moved, or burned (applications pertaining to existing buildings are in the custody of Permits and Inspection).
There are six different kinds of records in this series, all of them used (and filed) together in administering plumbing and sewerage connection applications: Application to connect with sewer; Application to construct plumbing; Application to connect with public surface drains; Application to connect with public surface drains or septic tank; Application to connect with holding tank; and Application to connect house sewers temporarily to public surface water drains. Each application consists of a form and a basic plan of the structure (on linen). The plans show the location of the bathroom(s) and kitchen and indicate where the house plumbing connects to the main sewer. Some applications contain more detailed plans showing elevations, alterations, and additions, as well as correspondence.
The first application to connect to the sewer was made on 1 December 1892.

Series consists primarily of individual photographs taken of each Mayor and group photographs of the Mayor and Council members generally at the beginning of each term in office. Series also includes other photographs featuring Mayor and Council.

Photographs are divided into files based on photographer, type of photograph, or subject matter. The dates listed are only those noted on some photographs and do not cover all the material in each file. The subject matter is varied covering: aerial photos, Beacon Hill Park, boulevard trees, children and playgrounds, parks, Parks Department projects and personnel, Ross Bay Cemetery, scenic views, storm damage scenes, waterfowl, zoo animals.
In addition, there are a few newclippings, postcards, and pamphlets relating to the Parks Department

The files generally consist of architectural plans and supplementary textual records deposited with or created by the Engineering or Planning Departments as part of the building permit approval process.

Victoria (B.C.). City CouncilSeries consists of an index to Advisory Planning Commission zoning and rezoning case files (CRS 339).
Victoria (B.C.). Advisory Planning CommissionSeries consists primarily of photographs of street views and road and sidewalk construction. Also includes photographs of culvert installation, Garbage Wharf, temporary garbage dump at Mud Bay, refuse disposal methods, Point Ellice Bridge construction, Garbally Road Public Works Yard, Bowker Creek, City parkades, and the official opening of the Yates Street Fire Hall.
Photographs were probably taken by Public Works staff as a record of their activities.

Public Works DepartmentSeries consists of reports from the City Engineer and City Assessor to Council regarding the cost of constructing permanent (cement) sidewalks together with statements showing the amount chargeable against the various portions of real property immediately benefited. Included also are plans describing the location of the works to be done, the length of time it is expected to last, the cost to the City, and the owners of the relevant properties. See bylaw 343.
